There is a class of steroid drugs that acts as anti-inflammatory medication. The class is named glucocorticoid, and within this class is a medication called dexamenthasone, Dexamethason is used to treat adrenal insufficiency, specifically glucocorticoid resistance a very rare disorder. Dexamethason is also used to treat non-endocrine disorders like some autoimmune diseases and rheumatoid arthritis, donating to the type of medicine that is referred to has having a broad spectrum.

Addison’s disease is also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency. This occurs when in very rare situation in which adrenal glands do not make enough hormones. Interestingly enough this drug has been popular for athletes who believe they will enhance their performance, as this is a steroid. Side effects and dosage vary depending on condition. For example patients in shock the prescribed amount would be a 4-8mg intravenously, whereas patients with autoimmune would avoid more than 1.5mg orally.

Side effects included but are not limited to stomach aches, osteoporsis, depression, hypertension, and weight gain. Concentration to thses side effects is made after eye, dental suergery, as this drug also exists in eye drops, and is used after some dental suergeries.
