A beautiful day in Marseille.
Swam in the Mediterranean sea, took some neat pictures, and met an accordionist named Volti.
The host family I am staying with cooked a tasty dinner.
Pictures from the day to come soon.
The day began like every other day. I slept in late, (jet lag is a real drag), and woke up with a major appitie. Josh’s roommate Alex had invited us to a great lunch; however, my sluggish motion wasn’t getting Josh and I there any faster. We decided to eat lunch in Aix-En (the city I am staying in). Alex had gone ahead on bike to Marseille.
After lunch Josh and myself hopped abroad onto a bus which was taking us on to the subway. On the bus we met a man who is the communications director for a Wine company. Talk about pure luck! We exchanged contact information and hopefully will be in touch for some media work. Once at the subway station we had a bit of a time finding the correct metro, but we found it soon enough. It was once we got into Marseille that we needed to ask for directional assistance.
A nice young man in a Yamaka pointed us in the correct direction and then we were hoofing it for about 5kilometers. Finally we reached a city bus to take us closer to Alex at the rendezvous point. Although we missed the lunch, and the people, Alex was still able to show us this amazing site. A beautiful port off the Mediterranean. We swam for a bit but it was still quite cold to swim.
I cut my foot a bit on a rock but it was all in all a good time. After some sun bathing and Vape canvasing, we decided to head back home. Only problem was I didn’t have any money smaller than a 50 Euro bill and all the shops close around 6 / 7pm.
The local buses won’t accept bills larger than 5 Euro, so once again we were hoofing it to the nearest shop that would make change for us. We tried a BP Gas station with no luck before we decided to sit down at a restaurant. I ordered a water and Josh got a soda or beer (can’t really recall). To my right, an attractive artistic looking lady, and to my left an african male who kept to himself.
I started conversation with the lady. Her name is Volti. I complimented her on her unique hair style, and we exchanged information about music and art. With Josh helping in translation, I found she recently took up playing the accordion and also returned from a trip to Africa.
We didn’t have too long to talk because the sun was going down and we needed to get back to Aix-En-Provence. We booked it back to the subway station (we ended up walking there in the end). It was such a gorgeous day I couldn’t stop taking pictures.
Finally we got to the bus station that was to take us back to Aix-En-Provence, but we just missed missed our ride by a couple seconds. No worries, I had a fully charged iPhone and songs to review. Josh was busy practicing French with new friends. He introduced me to some of them and then I was back into the music.
Even the bus ride was apparently longer than usual. It’s sort of the French way to be laid back but we already missed our lunch plans, it was looking like we’d miss our dinner plans too.
We arrived back home at dark. Vera (the host mother) had invited her mother for dinner and even though we missed the meal, we were able to catch Vera’s mom before she left. There was plenty of tasty food left for us, and we were able to enjoy a nice meal under the practically full moon.
It was truly an eventful day!
